Final Blog

7th grade Pre-Algebra is almost over! All that is left is the final exam! Answer the following questions:

1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself for Tuesday's exam?

2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what particular skills?

4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not?

  1. 1. I have already started studying for the math finals. I have gotten most of the basic information covered but in some areas that I am not sure of, I would need some practice.

    2. This was not that challenging because most of the information was review from last year (6th grade). I did my best in class time, but I think I would have liked to do all my homework because my grades are lowered due to me not finishing homework.

    3. I think that I am ready for the Algebra I class. Even thought it may be hard, I would like to challenge myself and learn the new formulas given in Algebra. I am not that confident, but I am not under confident either. I think my best in math is understanding formulas, where I am bad at geometry.

    4. I liked pre-algebra because I like math a lot and I thought that the teacher had very fun and good explanations.

  3. 1. I haven't started studying for the math finals. I am planning to look over every test and homework assignment there has been ever since the start of the 2nd semester. Also I am going to make sure that I know everything listed on the study guide.

    2. This year's math was much more difficult than 6th grade. But I could still maintain my grades and understand. I think I tried my best in math because math is usually my weak subject. I am satisfied with my grade in math. I could've studied more for the tests and check over my test/ quizzes before i handed it in. I don't check over my work as much as I should.

    3. I think I will need some practice over the summer to catch up with everyone else. I've heard algebra is really challenging from a lot of people. My mom also thinks I should practice over the summer to prevent me from falling behind.

    4. I loved math class this year. Although math isn't my favorite subject, the classes were always fun and quick. The teacher was very funny and demonstrative. I laughed at least once every math class. I like how this class really helped me understand what I was learning. I hope I have the same math teacher in 8th grade!

  4. 1) I haven't started studying for the final exam yet, but I am planning to go over tests and quizzes and review the questions that I got wrong.

    2) This year was somewhat challenging for me, because I already knew some, but others were new to me. I think that I performed the best I could but I could have been more careful on calculations during quizzes or tests.

    3) I think I need to hone up on some of the Algebra I course.

    4) I liked Pre-Algebra class this year very much because the class was really fun and interesting.

  5. 1. I didn't start studying however I went over my previous tests and corrected the things I made a mistake or got wrong. I think i need to practice solving more problems and memorizing different terms which will help we when I solve a problem such as range.
2.Prealgebra was a review for me. I didn;t have any difficulty understanding however I made a lot of silly mistakes. Over the summer break I should really need to practice on concentrading more.
3.Currently, I went over through the Algebra stuffs and I found out it was very complicated.I think I need to look over the Algebra stuffs as well.
4.I liked pre-algebra because it was a review for me and there were a lot of memorable scenes such as the transformation lesson.

  6. 1) No I haven’t yet so I plan to use the study guide on the wiki and review over all the tests that I have took so far. I will also do the chapter reviews that are on the online textbook.

    2) Some of the parts of this year were challenging and frustrating but I think I could have performed the best I could have except for some particular quizzes and tests. I think I could have reviewed the lessons at home before we started it the next day so that I wouldn’t have been too frustrated by it when we actually learned it at school.

    3) I think I should practice on using the algebraic expressions but other than that I feel pretty confident about Algebra I. I feel confident about the Permutations and Combinations, probability, odds, and sin, cos, and tan.

    4) Yes, I liked Pre-Algebra this year because some of the ways that Mr.Jobe taught us was really fun and I was always excited to come to class and anticipated how we would learn the lesson the next day. I hope I have Mr. Jobe next year too.

  7. 1. Yes, I have started studying for final exam. I went over all the test that we took, and also other kinds of word problems.

    2. This year was not that challenging for me. I think I tried to do my best, but I could study little more for the tests and doing HW correctly.

    3. I think I should go over math skills during the summer. I'm not really confident about my mathematics ability because even though I learn, I always forget. So I think I should go over Algebra I course during summer

    4. I liked pre-algebra class this year because it wasn't boring and fun. Mr.Jobe gave us a great examples so I was able to memorize easily. I liked this class!

  8. 1. I have started studying for finals. I'm going over all of the chapters covered in 2nd semester and solving more problems on chapters I have forgotten or not confident in.

    2. Generally this year wasn't that challenging, but there were some chapters I wasn't confident in and needed more practice. I think I did the best I could do, but I could have paid more attention to my homework because sometimes I forgot to do parts of it.

    3. I think I'm ready for Algebra, I just need more calculation practices so I can do them faster. I think I can understand the concepts pretty well.

    4. Math class was fun! It was one of my favorite academic classes, and Mr. Jobe explained the concepts easily. I liked some of his methods to remember formulas and other things, and they helped me greatly on tests. He was really funny too! I hope I have the same teacher in 8th grade as well.

  9. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself for Tuesday's exam?
I started studying for the final exam by studying the tests that we got back and look at what I got wrong. I plan to study more by solving more problems and reviewing things that I might have forgotten.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

This year has been a bit challenging for me. I tried my best for everything and performed the best I could have. I could have studied more of the things we were learning while we were learning it so I could understand it more clearly at class time.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what particular skills?

I think I would have to practice a lot of math over the summer! I think I should study Algebra I before we actually learn it next year because there could be information that I do not know that everyone else studied already. I don’t know the content of Algebra I, so I’m not really sure what skills I should study.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not?

I liked Pre-Algebra class this year!! I think it was really fun and I learned a lot of new stuff about math. For example, I didn’t know anything about permutations or combinations before I learned it this chapter. Also, Mr Jobe was a very good teacher and he was really funny!!

  10. 1) I haven't studied however I when through the passed quizzes and tests.I also went through thee mistakes i made in my notebook.
2)It was a very comfortable year for me in math because everything was just a review for me and it was easily to understand. However I did a lot of silly mistakes. So during summerbreak, I should practice concentration whole solving a math problem.
3)I went through the Algebra stuffs online and other where and they were very chanllenging for me. So I think I have to start getting used to a lot of variables and will hone up on the algebra course.
4)I liked pre-algebra class because it was a review for me and Mr.Jobe gave me unforgettable scenes such as transformation lesson.

  11. 1) I haven't started studying for my math finals because of the Spanish final that is coming up on Friday :(. But I would probably study everything we covered, starting from the basics and ending with the most challenging part.

    2) I mean, I have to admit that I'm not good in math. I have to practice it a LOT before I actually memorize the formula. This year wasn't as challenging as I thought it would have but I could have studied more for tests and quizzes.

3)I'm planning on reviewing them over the summer but I am pretty confident that I can do the concepts that we learned this year.

    4) I liked this class because it was fun rather than boring. Mr. Jobe made the class enthusiastic. I hope I have Mr. Jobe fore 8th grade!

  12. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself for Tuesday's exam?

Yes, I have studied a little bit. I have just gone over the chapters in the book we've covered. However, I plan to go over the tests and study guide this week.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

This year has been a little challenging for me because I am normally not that good with numbers, and I got confused between all the similar (but different) formulas and ways you need to handle a question. However, the math IS more interesting. Its cool how I can calculate what a missing side's length is, and so on.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what particular skills?
I think I'll have to "hone up" on skills over the summer. I will probably have to go over the permutation, combination thing again because that really confused me (i don't think I did too well on the test either) and, looking back at my grades, I think I'll need to review things from Chapter 9 (roots, rational/irrational numbers, etc.) because my grades weren't the best for that chapter, and I must not know the information that well.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not?
Yes, I liked the class this year. Mr. Jobe taught us in a fun and memorable way, and I understood the concepts well.

  13. 1. I have not start studying for the math final. I am going to do the studyguide and I will also look through the test papers and redo the questions that I' ve gotten wrong.

2.Yes, it had been challenging for me. There were many difficult and challenging chapters. I don't think I have performed the best I could this year. I think I could have done harder, solving more problems and writing down the concepts on a sheet of paper so that I could remember better.

    3. I think I have to focus on Algebra 1 during the summer break so that I would be confident enough on mathematics.

    4. Yes and kind of no. I liked it a lot at first... But as the chapters became difficult, my grades started dropping. I think I should have tried harder. I will try my best for the next year Algebra 1.

  14. 1) I started studying a little for the final exam. I have done the standardized test practices, doing the word problems of each section, and doing challenge problems. Also, I have been doing the section quizzes and chapter test on the class zone website.

2)This year is like a review from last year, so pre-algebra was pretty easy. I don't think that I preformed my very very best. I still made careless mistakes. I wish that I spent more time on the concepts rather than fully understanding the process by continuously doing problems.

    3) I think reviewing the formulas and concepts over the summer won't hurt. I would rather play on the safe side over finding out in 8th grade that I forgot some concepts. I can't say that I'm extremely confident about my mathematics ability.

    4) Pre - algebra class was very enjoyable because we learned and had fun at the same time! The candy and bonuses also made me a bit more motivated. I read through the explanation of some stuff like permutations and combinations and I didn't really understand it. Mr. Jobe definitely simplified and summarized everything into an easy-t-understand way.

  15. 1) No, I did not study for the final. I will check what we are tested on and if I'm confused of any of the subject, I will review the homework or some lesson on that subject.

    2) No, not really. It could of been more challenging with more harder critical questions using all the topics we learnt. Also most of the time I did my best but I could improve by reducing careless mistakes in tests.

    3) I'm going to carry on with my own schedule and over the summer, I'm going to start doing more math. I feel confident of what I learnt. I would work on more math for example, Algebra, Geometry, etc...

    4) It was ok... Porque SeƱorJobe es comico y simpatico. It wasn't that challenging though (I wanted more hard questions). Also I learnt most of them. It was good that I reviewed things that I learnt this year. And overall I liked this year math. ¡Me gusta la clase de matematicas!

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

This year was less challenging than last year. Maybe it was because i was not used to the school program last year I performed not the best but maybe close to. I could have done things more actively.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what particular skills?

since it is algebra next year, I should practice on the formulas until I will get used to it and be able to do it mentally.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not?

yes. I liked the pre-algebra class this year. It was learnt in a fun and easy way which made me satisfy

  20. 1) Have you already started studying for the final exam? If so, what have you done? If not, what do you plan on doing to prepare yourself for Tuesday's exam?

I had began studying on Saturday, for the final exam. I looked over my study guide, and also tested each other with my friends with some questions in the textbook. Looking through the study guide and reviewing the lessons by looking at my notebook gave me a lot of help and refreshed my memory.

    2) Has this year been challenging for you? Do you think you performed the best you could have? What could you have done differently?

Over all, the year had not been very challenging. Although there were some lessons that were new to me, I was comfortable with many of the chapters we learned in class. I had tried my best to perform the best I could, and would of done nothing differently.

    3) The Algebra I course at KIS is challenging. Do you think you need to hone up on any skills over the summer, or do you feel confident about your mathematics ability? If so, what particular skills?

During the summer, I think I will forget many of the concepts we learned this year in Pre-Algebra. So, my mother and I agreed that I should review what I learned over the year before 8th grade begins. However, I am pretty confident with myself about my mathematics ability.

    4) Did you like Pre-Algebra class this year? Why or why not?

Overall, I liked Pre-Algebra class this year. Mr. Jobe is a fun teacher, and so I mostly always had a fun time in class. Unlike boring teachers, he teaches math in a fun way. Also, I had good friends in class, and so was never bored.
